In his dream, Uncle Sam comes to life and teaches Porky about history from Colonial America through the midnight ride of Paul Revere and the American Revolutionary War to the expansion of the American Old West, briefly alluding to Abraham Lincoln.
PS. The phrase "under God" was incorporated into the Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954, by a Joint Resolution of Congress amending § 4 of the Flag Code enacted in 1942. 15 years after this cartoon was made.
